Do you want to do something good, be a famous writer or a coder or a pianist and is suddenly discouraged in your pursuit because everyone else is doing it. Then this article is for you!
So what if everyone else is doing it
When we see everyone else pursuing what we are also trying to achieve we can get extremely discouraged. Two things can take over the mind.
a). The fear of competition
b). The mediocrity of the pursuit because pursuing this vision and dream is nothing special. You are only a part of the rat race and the dream is no longer a noble vision that is unique. It feels dull and mediocre.
Time to turn this kind of mentality around. By:
Always try to welcome healthy competition
If competition does not make you feel more alive than you are just not a fighter type of a person. You could be passive and not aggressive. But you can change this thing about you by coming up with unique plans to succeed. Imagine a plan that others have not yet thought about. Try coming up with a brilliant scheme to succeed that works for you and makes you stand out. Start following your plan and you will notice that you like competing against others. Competition will feel like a sport and there is nothing unhealthy about it. Also, try to work hard towards those plans. Even if you fail, you will feel like you have grown a lot since you started out. For example, when I first started coding I was extremely excited about the opportunities it was offering but disappointed that so many people were in it. How can I succeed if everyone else is also doing? I came up with a plan of making apps that helped non profit. I worked extremely hard towards it and even though it wasn’t anything unique and special I felt like I was being unique in my pursuit. Coding also provides an opportunity for you to actually stand out and be yourself. It is a career with many many specialties. So many opportunities to stay motivated.
Does motivation come from within
Lie!!! Just a huge fat lie. Motivation never comes from within. Do not procrastinate and wait till you have the right motivation to do something. Motivation is not just going to decide to flow through your veins it only comes when you work hard. Working hard can fuel motivation. When you work hard to achieve something and because you are working hard you start believing in yourself. This belief makes you motivated and keeps you motivated. So make a great plan unique to you only and work hard towards that one plan.
Do not make too many plans
Completely unrelated. How can I make sure my kids are not a gemini? I thought my horoscope was responsible for my irresponsible way of planning things out. I always end up making way too many plans related to my career. I couldn’t stop myself from purchasing a million courses or starting out a million projects without finishing the pending work. But than I realized everyone else is guilty of doing this. As coders we strive to excel in a highly competitive line of work. All these plans are a result of being in survival mode but in order to succeed we need to stop being in a survival mode and go with flow. Understand this one thing. Finishing a plan is more important. Focus on finishing what you start otherwise you will lose self confidence and eventually your motivation. Than this rat race will be impossible to follow through and you would eventually give up.
Worker Harder
There are all kinds of quotes that tell you to not work so hard. Work smarter not harder. Hard work doesn’t pay. Lies!!! In coding when you keep working hard you become smarter. Only hard work can make you smarter. If you make sure you work harder than the majority of the people in this line of work, eventually you will not care about everyone else doing what you are doing. The rat race is not such a bad thing if you feel like a winner. So make sure you feel like a winner by working harder, also by following through your plans and finishing everything you start.
Altogether, the sky will always be clear and the future of coders will be bright everywhere.
